The exhibition is divided into three major sections, aiming to showcase the historical and cultural dimensions of Hong Kong’s Calligraphy &amp; Typography through the basic necessities of everyday life. The first section (寫字生活), presents diverse personal interpretations of handwriting, introducing variant Chinese Characters (異體字) and the stories of the legendary calligrapher (寫字佬). The second section (書到用時), explores the fusion of calligraphic tradition and practical aesthetics, focusing on signboard culture and platform calligraphy (e.g. MTR station signage). The final section (印藝設計）, examines the evolution of Chinese typeface design and printing technology, featuring movable type, fonts, and road signage typography. The exhibition weaves together Hong Kong’s everyday aesthetics and street-level culture across food, streets, design, and books, inviting visitors to deeply experience the beauty of text that defines this city. Among the highlights are four sets of faithfully reproduced hand-drawn manuscripts of glass neon signs from the 1950s to 1970s, based on the book Neon Hues: The Visual Documentation of Restaurant Neon Artworks, vividly recreating the classic look and feel of that era’s hand-painted signage. The work features wall murals on residential buildings that capture the impression of homeowners, reflecting the area's past economy based on hardware industry and its tranformation into a residential neighborhood. The artist selected seven streets named after trees, symbolizing the sharing of life stories under their shade, and installed metallic trees in gold and silver, representing the community's memories and changes. Overall, the piece aims to showcase the history and present of Tai Kok Tsui, fostering connections and dialogue within the community. The overall design utilizes white colors, along with blue as the main color to reminiscent of polar. Through simple graphics paired with images, it conveys the sense of crisis regarding the disappearance of polar regions and their impact on the world. The exhibition includes three sections: "History of Human Exploration in Polar Regions," "Polar Food Chains," and "Challenges Facing the Polar Regions." It is hoped that students will engage in more discussions in class about the relationship between the "Polar Regions" and their own environment. Cardboard is used as the only material for the exhibition panel, aims to decrease the damage to the environment and enhance student's awareness of environmental friendly. In 2025, POINTSMAN designed a poster for Family Month, focusing on the Homeland 2025 theme “Parent-Child: One Day with You,” and created exhibition and activity spaces in the L2 and L4 areas, at The Wai. The Hong Kong Family Welfare Society aims to engage the public in a relatable and fun way, which is why the exhibition incorporates lyrics from various Cantonese songs to guide the content of each area. From different floors of the shopping mall, visitors can overlook the exhibition and see a “Timeglass” shape, reflecting the exhibition theme “Timeglass: One Day with You,” symbolizing how everyone flows together like grains of sand, creating shared memories. The entire exhibition lasts only two days, so we prioritize the use of recyclable materials in the production. The materials are repurposed into (modest) economic resources to give back to social welfare organizations, with the hope of forming a sustainable and resilient cycle.
